Top 5 News and Magazines Apps on Android in Hungary, Q2 2022

In the second quarter of 2022, the top News and Magazines apps on the Android platform in Hungary demonstrated diverse trends in downloads and active user engagement. Here’s a closer look at the performance of the leading five apps based on Sensor Tower data.

Hírstart - hírek és időjárás from Central Médiacsoport Zrt. showed fluctuating weekly download numbers. Starting at 765 downloads at the beginning of the quarter, the app experienced a dip mid-quarter but rebounded to 928 downloads in early June, closing the quarter with 875 downloads.

SQUID - News & Magazines maintained relatively stable weekly downloads, ranging between 416 and 591 downloads per week. Weekly active users saw a modest increase from 4.1K to a peak of 4.4K in mid-May, before settling at around 4.1K by the end of June.

Index.hu had a noticeable decline in weekly downloads, starting from 1.3K and dropping to as low as 189 by the end of May. In terms of active users, the app fluctuated between 27.8K and 33.4K throughout the quarter, reflecting a consistent engagement despite the dip in downloads.

Fox News International experienced a sharp decline in both weekly downloads and active users. Downloads plummeted from 1.4K at the beginning of the quarter to almost negligible numbers by mid-May, with no downloads recorded in the final week of June. Similarly, active users decreased from 945 to 342 over the same period.

Telex saw a significant drop in weekly downloads from 1K to as low as 135 by the end of May, slightly improving to 207 by the end of June. While active user data is not available, the download trends indicate a decreasing interest over the quarter.
